ListenNot only a violinist — a painter of sound.
Baroque on gut strings to Latin concertos · the 1735 "Mary Portman" Guarneri del Gesù
Born in Mallorca in 1990, Francisco Fullana approaches music with a rare combination of vulnerability and presence — a painter of sound.
Shaped by his Hispanic heritage and a lifelong synesthesia that binds sound to colour and memory, he moves fluidly from Baroque music on gut strings to Latin American concertos and the great works of the 20th century — treating each composer as a new language to inhabit.
He trained at the Royal Conservatory of Madrid and The Juilliard School, with violinist Midori a formative mentor. Honoured with the Avery Fisher Career Grant and the Khaledi Prize, and an artist of Lincoln Center's Chamber Music Society. A frequent collaborator of the Grammy-winning Apollo's Fire — their Vivaldi Four Seasons was named a Top Ten Album of the Year by The Times.
